News has been received in Wellington of the death at San Francisco oi Mr J. D. Williams, founder and foi*meriy managing director of the J. D. Williams Company, Sydney, a leadiM.4 figure in the motion picture busings in Australasia. The late Mr Williams' succumbed to pneumonic influenza. At the. time of his death he was general manager of the National Exhibitors' (Motion Picture) Circuit of the Unitji states of America./ - ' £ After an absence of nearly four years.jp Mdlle. Tk>lores, the famous soprano,' aitrived in Wanganui yesterday afternoon. Mdlle. Dolores is stiil accompanied by her lifelong friend Madame Vandour, and the two ladies■ wrro warmly welcomed at the station by .a number of I'riends. ' During the war they haVe. lesided in Melbourne, where ttiey have been truly valuable war workers. MdJl-:\ Dolores gave- quite W number of concerts for patriotic work, raising tha magnilicent sum of £18,000 Mdllo. Dolores who is staying at Chayatm^s' Hotel, leaves for Stratford to-morrow.
