WANGANUI POST OFFICE BUSINESS.
The local Post Office staff have been very busy during the last few days in transacting War Loan business. The sales for the six days ended Friday (August 31) were as follow :— , P.O. W«- Bonds, 5 per cent... £11,400 .P.O. War Bonds, 4^ per cent.. £6,450 War Certificates, 4* per cent... £12,400 Total ... £30,250 The public demand was brisker than ever on Saturday, the following being the business done during the morning: P.O. War Bonds, o per cent... £7,700 P.O. War Bonds, 4| per cent.. £1,100 War Certificates, 4£ per cent.. £3,595 Total £12,395 It is expected that big business will be don c to-day, the last day of the sale.
At a special meeting of the members of the Cosmopolitan Club on Saturday night it was decided to invest £2,000 in the War Loan.
The New Zealand Refrigerating Co. are calling up their unallotted shares, amounting to. £62,800. These, issued, at a premium of 50 per cent., will represent £31,400, and the whole of that amount will be invested in the War Loan. (Per Press Association.) FEILDING, September 1. The New. Zealand Eomney Marsh Breeders' 3 Association and the Hereford ■ Breeders' Association are each, putting the whole of their surplus funds into the War Loan.
DUNEDIN, September 1
A public company whose headquarters are at Dunedin has subscribed ■ £50,000. to the War Loan. Commissioners have subscribed 'jixq City Council's Renewal Fund £10,000.
TAUMAHUNUI, Sept.. 1
' The ' Kaitieke County Council, at its monthly meeting to-day, agreed to invest: £3000 of hypothecated thirds in the War Loan.
