MERGING PROPOSAL.
UPPER WANGAEHU ROAD DISTRICT.
CONFERENCE AT TAIHAPE
A conference between representatives or tae Wangaaui, Xiangitikei, Wn-iraa-iioad Board District was held at Tniliape on Wednesday to discuss proposed alterations of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board District boundaries. y
Wanganui County was represented by Crs. Hine and Collier, Mr G. H. Darbyshire (county clerk), and Mr 11, B. Dawson (county engineer). Mr Peterson (chairman of the Upp&r Wangaehu .Road Board) presided. After discussion the following motion by Gr.- Hine was-carried :—
"This meeting is of the opinion that it is in .the.interests of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board and the Wanganui County Council that the Road Board nrea, should be merged into Wanganui Comity, and that the boundaries of the lload Board district should be equitably adjusted between the counties concerned by a commission consisting of one delegate appointed by each local body, with an independent chairman appointed by the commission." The proposed new boundaries will have the effect that the major portion of the Boad Board.area will go into llangitikei County, with the exception of an area of eight-thousand acres adjacent to the Wanganui County, which will be administered by that local body.
