RONGOTEA SALE
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows : —
On Wednesday at Rongotea we held ( our animal Weaner Fair and Yarded ! 550 out of a total of 1000. Buyers from the Main, Trunk, Hawke's Bay, and back country districts were well represented, and competition was stistained throughout. We sold the whole of our yarding with the exception of one or two pens, at very satisfactory prices. We quote: — Best steers £4 to £5 4s 6d; best heifers £3 to £4; medium steers £2 10s to £3 14s; medium heifers £2 to £2 17s 6d; mixed sex lots, £2 8s 6d to £3 13s; small weaners 26s to £2 ss. At Palmerston North on. Thursday we had a good yarding of sheep and a small yarding of cattle. Late rates were maintained throughout, whitefaced lambs showing a slight improvement. We quote: —. Fat wetners 36s 'to 36s 4d; fat ewes 28s'6d to 33s 6a; heavy xat iambs
25s sd; breeding ewes 295; white-faced lambs 17s to lvs Id; fair b.f. lambs 14s 8d to 15s 6d; small lambs 10s to 12s b'd; forward cows £8 9s; fat cows £10 us to £10 17s; dairy cows £8 to £8 17s (id. ■
