AN EDITOR'S DIFFICULTY.
APPEAL AGAINST CABLING UP.
CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 6.
Before the Canterbury Military Service Board to-^lay, Joseph Horace McMillan, proprietor and editor, of thfl "Ellesnaere Guardian:," stated that he was ■the sole support of a crippled father and an aged mother. He had three brothers in the' Fir/t Division. All had volunteered, and one was serving. He also appealed on the ground of financial obligations. He claimed that if he was called up,*and his paper ceased publication, it would be some loss to the district. ' . c
"No doubt," replied the Chairman; "but is it not a loss that the disttrict might eventually recover' from ?" He added that the appellant's case was one of hardship, but no worse than that of many others. The appeal was adjourned, pending medical examination.
