COUNTRY ALLEGEDLY UNPREPARED.

NEW YORK, Feb. 4. Navy Yard officers say that there are only four American destroyers and two submarines in fighting trim here in America. The Atlantic fleet is at present in Cuba, where it is strategic to have the ships for coast defence; but there they are useless against the Vboats.

According to a high official of the American navy, Germany could easily blockade tho coast with submarines, and paralyse internal and foreign commerce. The American fleet is not prepared, and would be annihilated if the German fleet got loose. An American aviation expert says that America has only 300 aviators, including the army and navy, and 100 machines.
