AMERICA MAKING PREPARATIONS FOR POSSIBILITY OF
WAR.
BUPEPRIGHTFIiLNESS NOT DEVELOPING.
GENERAL FEELING OF GONFIDIHOE IN NAVY.
MARKED ACTIVITY ON BRITISH FRONT.
FRENCH TROOPS ALSO HARASSING THE ENEMY.
till eyes are still centred on America, but the situation remains unchanged. Germany is showing signs of a readiness to smooth the way, and America is unquestionably averse to entering the war if it can possibly be avoided, it ssems to be conceded that in the event of war eventuating, America will not send an army tv Europe, or co-operate with the British .Navy. So far as can be gathered, the American people are quite- ready for war.
Germany has so far not done much ~v.mage by her super-frightfulness, and' shipping people are evidently quite content to trust to the Navy.
.... Tliere is much activity on the British and French fronts, indicating thai the big offensive will start very shortly,, There are still indications that Germany intends to anticipate the Allied offensive by making a big blow in Bei-sji-.-.:;i, but the Russian offensive in the Riga area is causing her much anxiety.
There are Signs that the Allies ar,e about to raise the Greek blockade, bus indicating that all demands have been compued with.
