PROGRESS AT GISBORNE.
GISBORNE/ February 5. > The Arahura's cargo from Auckland* comprising 300 tons for Gisborne, including a quantity of fruit, owing to labour not being available, was' overcarried. It is hoped io land it to- v morrow, when the vessel returns from ' Napier. .
The Monowai, from the south, has 200 tons to land. When the company endeavoured to engage labour at 8 o'clock, the permanent lightermen having been dismissed for refusing to work yesterday, the local watersiders declined to go to work till these permanent hands had been reinstated. Enough assistance was obtained to !eend out one lighter and bring ashore the live stock and * theatrical scenery, and the vessel with i the remainder of her cargo, will proceed !, to Auckland at 5 o'clock. "~V The loading of timber on the Joan ' Craig for Sydney is proceeding.
