His sire, "Dunure Blend" (11691), is a great horse, and won first honours at Kilmarnock, and is also a sure stockgetter. Gr. sire "Mpntrave Mac" (9958) is favourably known as a first-class breeding horse, a son of the renowned "MacGregor" (1487), out of the Champion Cawdor Cup Mare, "Montrnve Maun" (11756), by the Merryton "Prince of Wales" (673). One of his sons, •'Sylvander," is .a typical draught horse, and winner of first prize at' the Autumn Stallion Show at Glasgow in 1899, and second at Edinburgh in 1900. His' dam, "Maggie of Ballinton" (l-lo42), is a superior mare, and the dam of many good ones, and she traces back to the wonderful "Topsman"(Sß6) winner of first prize at London, and many more too numerous to mention.
