Y.M.C.A:'S BIG EFFORT
A public meeting of ladies was held at tlie V.M.C.A. yesterday, \fhen a ladies' auxiliary was formed, Mrs Ashton being elected- president. The ladies are to assist in the work of the associa. tion, and already are planning to help in Trenth Comforts Day effort. The Wanganui Ladies' Musical Society have kindly consented to give a grand concert in the Opera House on Monday evening next on behalf of the I.M.C.A. Trench Comforts Fund Arrangements are now in hand. Watch tor advertisements. Music-lovers should book tins date.
In view of the urgent appeal from I'ranee for trench comforts, the board of directors of the V.M.C.A on Monday decided to make a big effort in VVangamu and the surrounding district. Jhe Patnotci Society has given its hearty approval, and*on Saturday the 9th December, a special "Trench Comtotrs Day" will be organised. The ass.o ciation w asking for £1500 from this coast—New Plymouth to Palmerston. All who realise what they owe to the men at the front will respond readily to : nelp alleviate the hardships the boys will suffer in the trenches during the winter campaign.
