The German press reveals that a union of iron and steel industrialists, embracing all large German concerns, were largely responsible for the labour conscriDtion. The union approached Hindenburg, proposing a mass levy. Hindenburg replied that he shared the Union's views as to the necessity of bringing in ali labour, including women and boys.
