CASTLECLIFF TOWN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The Castlecliff Town Board met at ! the Town Hall on Wednesday evening. Present: Commissioners C. H. Cress- ! weir (in the chair), W. G. Sanders, I<. G. Newr.ombe, R. G ; Firth and T. ft. McKenr.ie. Conference: The Gonville Town Board wrote agreeing to the proposed conference between the two Boards tc discuss amalgamation, offering to arrange a date as soon as possible. ' Patriotic Dance: W. J. Flynn sent a statement of receipts and expenditure for tho social held recently at Castlecliff. Expenses amounted to £2 i)s 2d, and receipts to £4 18s 6d, leaving a balance of £2 9s 4d.—Commissioner Firth moved that the use of the ball be granted for patriotic purposes in the~future, certain conditions being im. posed.—Agreed to. Sub-Division of Property: Messrs. C. L. Duigan and Co. forwarded a plan of the sub-division of properties fronting Rangiora, Matai and Karaka Streets. The plan was approved, subject to its being in accordance with the by-laws of the Board. Beautifying Work: A deputation consisting of Messrs Cooper, Gibson, H. Purser, F. T. Jones and Ayes waited on the Board on behalf of the Castlecliff branch of the Beautifying Society regarding a proposal to plant trees on the sea-frpnt and other reserves, and also for 'permission to plant trees in the roadway at Karaka St. The Board decided to give'permission to plant in Karaka St., on the conditions that Bft. be left for footpath, 2ft. for waterchannel, and 6ft. reserved for the trees on either side of the road. Permission was also granted the society to fence in certain areas on the 6ea-front near the Town Belt.Road. Estimates: The estimates of expenditure for the coming year were submitted and approved, and the Board decided to strike the same rates as last year—ld. in the £ general, and 5-16 d. special. . . . , ■•
