ADMIRAL KAMIMURA.

(Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) TOKIO, August 9. Obituary.—Admiral Hikonojo Kamimura.

Admiral Kamimura was born at Satsuma in 1850. He was captam of the cruiser Akitsushima in the CliinoJapanese War, 1894-1895; captain of the batleship Asahi, 1893, and was promoted vice-admiral in 1303. He visited Australia with a trailing squadron in 1903. On the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the 2nd Japanese Squadron, and sank tiie Rurik and seriously damaged the Cfromoboi and the Russia in the encounter off the (eastern coast of Corea on 14th August 1904, and later forced the Novik aground in Saghalieu. He was appointed Commander-jn-Chief of the Yokosuka Station in 1906.
