DAMAGE ONLY SLIGHT

TAUMARANUI, April 26.. The Waireka, a river boat from Wanganui to Taumarunui, on Tuesday met with a mishap at Hikimatu, between the house boat and here! Owing to engine trouble she pulled into the side, when a leaking benfeino tank took fire. The passengers were landed safely, one being" slightly singed. The awning was burned and passengers? bags slightly damaged, but. 210 luggage was "damaged. -The damage to the vessel was slight. This was her last trip "before refitting with new engines. The mails were saved. The accident was in no -way due to navigation, but purely engine trouble. The passengers arrived here at noon to-day.
