BIG THEFT IN CHRISTCHURCH

CHRISTCHURCH, April 9
Lnst night, or early this morning, Mr F. W. Tucker, jeweller, of High St., had his shon entered, and rings to the value of £1000 abstracted. Mr Tucker left his premises securely locked up at 6 p.m. last night. When he arrived, at ■8.30 this morning he found that every ring in the window had gone, tiheir total vaiue being £1000, whilst every other article of jeweUery had been left untouched-. Even the safe, containing a considerable amount of cash, had not been tampered with. It was by means of the skylight that the thief is presumed to have entered the shop, rue skylight has remained open ever since 'Mr Tucker took possession of the shop, but the aperture is small and would require a very small person to wriggle through.
