ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(Pc? Press Association.; CHRISTCHURCH, April 9. A collapsible boat was being lowered1 from the Wahine this morning when & block and tackle carried away throtigli the valve of the winch blowing out. An able seaman named Tate was struck by the falling gear and sustained a badly crushed thigh. He also ihad a thumb nail torn off.
FOUND DEAD,
DUNEDIN, April 10
• A woman named Mary Hanley, who was employed intermittently as laundress at Ashburn Hall, was found dead on the road about half-a-mile from the institution 3 resterday afternoon. She was working as usual yesterday, but another employee who went along the road shortly after she left found her lying dead. Death is believed to be due to natural causes.
