Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Crichtou Sclater, X.C.8., was born m-1885 He served in the Nile Expedition 1884----85, and afterwards as D.A.A.G. at headquarters. He^took part with the. Egyption Frontier Field i'oice in 1885-1886 nnd was D.A.A.G. at Cairo till 1890. He served in .South Africa, was Director of Artillery at t,fie War Office 1903-9; was Quartermaster-General in India 1904-«, ami commanded tlic- Quetta Division from 1908 to 1912.
