The United States agrees to pay Columbia five millions sterling for the acquisition or *t.,- canal zone. Columbia binds herself to refuse any concessions for a new canal or coaling privileges on the islands off the Columbia coast. Colunibi-o u'iinquished her demand for the free'passage of her ships through the canal in view of President Wilson's decision to repeal the exemption clause.
