ENGINEERS IN CONFERENCE.

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Mar. 20. The conference of local government engineers was resumed this morning, when a paper was read on the subject of the Humphrey pump, by F. O. Bunyard, Cambridge. The paper pointed out that the Humphrey pump was, as a type, peculiarly suitable for the needs of civil engineers in raising water for irrigation, domestic and sanitary purposes. ~~

In the afternoon the delegates oooninenced a tour of inspection of various local public works, which will -be continued to-morrow. The itinerary includes the City Council electric works, the electric works of the Tramway Board, the destructor, the quarry and machinery of the City Council, the Campbell Park and the sewer outfall et Onakei.
