STATEMENT BY DR FRENGLEY.

(By Telegraph.) (From Our Own Correspondent.)

WELLINGTON, Aug. 1. "To say that Europeans ar© not attacked by the disease," said Dr Frengley in an interview to-day, "is totally untrue, The evidence as to that is supplied by these most instructive photographs which show a definite identity with smallpox. Here is a picture of an Auckland Irbourmr man now recovering in the Auckland Isolation Hospital. Further, that the disease has spread to Europeans is corroborated by the definite fact that the Wellington District Health Officer (Dr Cljesson) has already reported three definite cases among the Europeans in the Wellington district. I here is no doubt whatever that the disease is smajlpox, not chickenpox, and that it has attacked .and does attack Europeans.''
