ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER.
(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 1. At I/vttelton this morning; Wilfred E. Harper was charged with having on July 25 at Lytielton, with intent to resist lawful arrest, discharged at Martin Oarney a. rifle loaded with destructive material, with intent to murder. Sergt. Ryan said thai, Detective Carney was still confined i.i the hospital. He therefore asked that the charge should be adjourned until Fi'iday. The application was granted.
