OHHJSTOHURCH, June 1& Yesterday the shop assistants in
Ch'ristehufch and districts in the yicinity of the city experienced the pleasures of ceasing work for the day at 1 o'clock ; as tho result of the recent poll fixing Satjircia-jras the" day on which the weekly half-holiday is to be observed. Very fino weather prevailed .and thft various attractions prbvid«d in the shape of football and hockey games were well patronised. The effect of the change ifi tlio day ■o.t.tli-e half-holiday was fully apparent in 'the streets during the afterliooa.
