ABSENCE OF SERIOUS CRIME.

NAPIER, June 16. At the opening of the Supremo Court, Mr Justice Chapman, in remarking on the light calendar said that there was almost a total absence of serious crime. "I have had the same experience at Paimerston sand Wanganui, and the general condition so far as crime is concerned is very satisfactory."
