Mr. Turnbull appeared for defendant, and pleaded that tho defendnnt had supplied tho liquov unwittingly. Tho Magistrate, Mr. Kerr, inflicted n Jane, of £2 and oosts or 11 days in default. Timo was given in which to pay.

Two lads appeared on tho information of Stephen Jones on a charge of stealing blankets and other articles valued at £4 from a house in the Wiaitotara Valley. It appears from th« otideuc-o given by S. Jones that defendants wero partners, among others, in a bu&hfplling contract. Ono of the fd-: came into the camp without -blanketu, and these wero provided for him by an order on the firm, the understanding being that defendant was to havo tho uso of the blankets, and at the end of the contract tho cost to be taken out of the money due to him. Owing to .a -quarrel with one of tho men, tho two' lads left the camp at tho | oad of a fortnight, taking .the blankets j with them/ They had received no money, but left nnoto stating; that they ■■had taken the blankets."The elder lad who war, .'lefn^ded by-Mr. Brpdie. p!e.-ul-» cd not guilty. ■:: Mr. Kerr, in dismissing tho case, said it was ono that really should not have como before the Court. Thf> boys had ■' been" perfectly ysy and frank in their statements, ' f.nd tno trouble had arisen over a misunderstanding. He wished it understood that, the boys left the Court without a sfcsin on characters.
