BODY FOUND IN THE RIVER.
Yesterday afternoon, a young man named Kenneth Millward saw the body oi'va woman floating in the river in tho vicinity of Clai'.-er's Corner. It subsequently proved to be tha,t of Mrs. BiU.ifighurst, n widenv, aged about 67. It, appears that Mrs. ; Billinghurst, who had been housekeeping for Mr. Harria, of Russell Street. Aramoho, had been missing since Juno 3rd, 'but there h no explanation as to how she got into tho river. :.'.."
When ■ tho body tv-.-t seen by young "Millward ho immediately advised the police, and two constables arrived' on tho scene. Tho river bank in the vicinity was so- steep that it was impossible to bring tho body ashore.' The only way was to. tew it further down-stream. Thu: Mi.lhvarr! and his two companions set about doing. The tide wad running in at tho time, but after an hour's hard pull tho body was taken ashore at p, landing lower down the riveiv from whenco it was conveyed to tha morgue.
An inquest will bo held to-day.
