A NAVAL ENGAGEMENT
TURKS v. GREEKS
BOTH SIDES CLAIM VICTORY

CONSTANTINOPLE, December 17. The Turk and Greek squadrons had a two hours' engagement' at the entrance to the Dardanelles.^ The official accounts on both sides claim a victory. The Turks state that vshots were exchanged .from 3500 to 8000 yards. Three or four projectiles struck the Georgiosaveroff and silenced her ITeavy guns, but she later continued the ibattle after her consorts had retired, and then followed. The Greeks say the Turks sheltered behind the forts, but after an hour retired in disorder -within the Dardanelles. Five men wore slightly wounded, thre© on the SaveraofL^. ATHENS. Uecember 17.
The passengers on a Russian steamer -witnessed the engagement. They state that two Turkish ships were seriously damaged.
