AUCKLAND, December 16

Up till Saturday last the total amount placed to the credit of the Clyde Redshaw. relief fund came to £1242' 10s. 'Several lists are still to come to hand, so that the grand total will bo close to £1500. The response .mado to tho appeal by,the school children of the Dominion has 'been magnificent. Schools from Cape Maria to thd Bluff contributed to help the little fellow, who lost both hands in a railway accident several months ago. Of the total contributed, no less than £925.35. has come from tho pupils of New Zealand {schools.

.The picnic of present and past members of the D.H.S. staff was held on the river yesterday afternoon and evening,. Tho launch "May" left Nixon's wharf about 3-30 p.m., arid proceeded up river as far as Sandy Hook, where tea was prepared and enjoyed. Then the journey, was extended as far as tho quarries, where a halt was called. Before starting on the return journey Mr. Aitken took occasion to 'bid goodbvo to the members of the staff who are leaving—no fewer than ffive—and ,df wishing them the host of success in therr future.
