j The High Commissioner's cabled mar--1 ket report, dated 14th October (note, 1 quotations unless otherwise specified are averago market prices on spot), is- as follows: —• Mutton. —Market quiet, dull sale for all qualities, but holders firm; Canterbury 4 l-Bd, North Island 2£d. Lamb. —Market weak on accountoortr supplies ot: Home-grown lamb being heavy and lowering prices of New Zealand lambs; .Canterbury 5-Ad, other than Canterbury sd, Scotch Hill 4-2 d. Beef. —Market dull, little demand and supplies llarge; New Zealand hinds 3£d, New Zealand fores 2£d. Butter. —Market rather quiet on account of high prices, buyers of butter holding for prices to go lower; Danish HGs. Siberian 1275, Australian 1325. j Cheese. —Market quiet, and prices slightly weaker; forward transactions in ehoeso very limited at present quotations, but future prospects good] Cana-j dian CDs 6d, D. English cheddar S6s. ! Hemp.—Market quiet, but moderate j business doing. New Zealand firm at j late quotations; stock of New Zealand ; 956 tons; market for Manila lias ad-! vaneed 20s.
