WARRNAMBOOL TO MELBOURNE ROAD RACE. (United Press Association. —Copyright.l. Received October 15, 5.5 n.m. MELBOURNE, October 14. Two hundred and eighty-three started in the road race. The weather was fine, though there were blinding clouds of dust. The roads wore good to Geelong, but afterwards patchy. A great finish resulted: Collins, 34 minutes, 1; Tebbs, 42, 2; Lesslng, 40, 3; Hughes, 34, 4; Slaney, 44, 5. All are Victorians. They fin- , ished in a bunch, Collins securing the j victory by half a wheel in 8 hours 45 ■ minutes 11 seconds. Lessing has enter--led a protest, as he alleges that Collins I caught hold of his saddle in the iinal j sprint. O'Shea, the New Zealand I scratch man, made the fastest time, 8 ! hours 18 minutes 44 seconds. i
