(United Presa Association—Copyi ight.) MELBOURNE, October 14. The Federal House passed the Transcontinental Railway Bill.

The Hon. Geo. Tudor, in moving the second reading of the Seamen's Compensation Bill/ said the measure was similar to that passed last session, excepting that the Government had taken the power denied by the High Court to deal with in.ter-State trade.

In the Senate, the Government was further heckled over the independent cablo service. Senator Chakaway described the news sent as grotesque, and absolute rubbish.
