WANGANUI AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

In glancing through the schedule of the Wanganui Agricultural Association, wo. were much Struck by the j ihoughtfulness of the committee in I catering so well for the children o^l f the district by providing such a num- | ber of classes in Home Industries, I Produce, Art, Technical and Public School classes. "Industry is a treasure." This well-worn adage occurred to us as we read through fche classes, nnd not only are we not surprised at the great interest that has been taken in this part of the Show, but we wonder that a far greater in-, terest is not taken in it, for assuredly there is a class there for everyone: boy or girl, big or small, as well as every man woman or child. There are classes for plain and ornamental writing, freehand drawing; painting, modelling, carving, beaten brass work and, coming to the more practical part we see that Mr. James Thain. offers a handsome gold medal for the best set of engineers* tools. Turning to the domestic side, tk^re .are, classes for every description Infancy work and plain sewing, whilst the- thoroughly domesticated girl "that much appreciated species" has a score or more different opportunities of showing, her prowess. -And not only is there the honour and' glory of it all, but the Association have provided a very liberal . prize list. For instance, thanks to Messrs Hannah and Co's generosity, the maker' of the first prize Christmas calfe wins a two guinea prize. The Association deserve the support of everyone and all those who have not received a programme, we Would recommend right away to write to Box 152 or ring up 'Phone 222, and the Secretary will be pleased to post you a programme.
