(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 13. A westerly low pressure area of .inusual intensity has enveloped th© country, the barometer recording 28.93 inches at tho Bluff at 3 p.m. to-day. High northerly and westerly winds have prevailed, and rain has fallen in most parts of the country. Present indications are for westerly winds, strong to heavy eale, snd veering southerly shortly. Colder, cloudy and unsettled weather, with heavy rain, is probable generally, snow on the higher levels and hail in parts of the South Island, with rivers flooded on the West Coast.
