WELLINGTON WOOL, SKIN, HIDES AND TALLOW SALES.
LEVIN AND CO.'S REPORT.
Messrs Levin, and Co. report as follows :—
We held our fortnightly sale on Friday, when we offered 75 bales of wool, 2,000 skins, 650 hides and calfskins and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a good attendance of buyers. Wool.—There is no change to report, all wool selling freely at last sale rates. We quote—Crossbred fleece, 5d to 8d; lambs 6d to 7d; superior crutchings 4-} d to sid ; medium 4d to 4^d ; inferior 3d to 4d; pieces and bellies 2d to 4d : locks lid to 3d.
Skins.—Strong at late rctos. Wo quote:—Fine crossbreds 7d to 7|d ; ci-ss-breds 6d to 7£d; lamb's skins 5Ad ;o (3 d ; dead skins 3d to sid ; dead hoggets .i to s^dj short wools 4d to 4i£d; dry peHs 2^d to 4£d; green skins 4s to 6s 8d; extra heavy ditto 7s sd. Tallow.—Firm. Parcels in shipping order £23s 15s. Tins £18 to £22 ss. Rough fat £10 to £15.
Horsehair.—ls to Is 2d per 1b Horns.—ss to 16s per hundred.
Cow'oails.—ls 3d to Is 7d per dozen. Hides.—Market firm at last sale prices. We quote:—Ox hides (heavy) <3£d to 7d; ox hides (medium) 6d to 6|d; ox hides (light) 5d to 6 l-8d; cow hides 5d to s|d; cut and slippy hides 2d to 5d ; stag hides 2^d to 4 l-8d; bull hides 2d to 4|d; yearlings 5d to 6|d; calf (best) 7d to 9|d; calf (medium) 5d 'to 6£d calf, cut and slippy 3d to sd.
