On Monda.y next, January 23, tlie twenty-second annual gathering or the Wanganui Oaledoniian, Society will be held on Cook's Gardens, and from what we can learn, it onsy requires fine weather to make the 1905 gathering a record one: Good entries have been received for the cycliaig and running events, handicaps for which will appear to-mor-row. The "kilties" have been liberally .catered for, the first prize in each event, botih piping and^dancing, being £4. Th s should attract big entries'. Mr. McKechnie, who compeitied so successfully here laa tyeact-, has already arrived, as also has Mr. Cameron, and it is expected that quite a, number new to Wanganui will compete in these contests. The dancing board will aga.'m be under the supervision of M«. Donald Stewart, and will be placed in the centre of the ground, so that every spectator will be aMe to get a good view of •what is going on. The public will be pleased to note that two items for juvenile dancers have been placed on the programme, viz.. Highland Fling for girls and Highland FKing for boys, also fling for childr*an undea' 10 years, either boy or girl. These competitions ane always interesting and keenly watched. Tho. fieild events arc post entries, and it is to ba hoped that sufficient entries will bo received to make them interesting. The 120 yards Sheffield Handicap, for which 23 have entered, will be run up the centre of the ground, which will enable everyone to s&9 both the staub and finish.
