ESPERANTO.
To the Editor
gii-j—l have read with very great pleasure yjpur articles on "Esperanto" on December 29 iand 30, and^ust congratulate you <"i the way in which you have handled the subject. ? You will be •pleased to know that a society has been formed in this city, and that in the course of six weeks we (have sufficient literature to inaugurate a campaign. At iwesent we are fceure of stocks; I have parted with my 'last 'book. So far we have only about 30 members, but when we are in .possession of ammunition we will run up our membership rapidly and
endeavour to get the Education Department to take the matter up. . There are probably over one hundred thousand adherents, but iaa registration costs 2s these do not all register." When I joined a year ago I was allotted the number 8709, and by pictorial postcards received it is evident that Esperantists (registered, I mean) are now 11,000 up, which indicates the great development during the last year. Again I thank you, and remain. Via vere kaj fidele, ROLAND ST. CLAIR. N.Z. Esperanto Society, Auckland.
