SOUTHLAND v. OTAGO. OTAGO WINS BY 18 POINTS.
DUNEDIN, September 15.Tho Otap'o v. Southland footb.dl match was played to-day in beautiful weather, before about 6000 spectators. Otago won by 18 points to nil, but though the visitors wero beaten the score scarcely represents tho play, as the Southland backs missed several openings. - The Otago score consisted of live tries, only one of which was converted. ASSOCIATION MATCH. WELLINGTON v. OTAGO. WELLINGTON WINS BY 3 GOALS TC) 2 (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, .September 15. The representative Association football match between Otago and Wellington was played to-day at Petone. Heavy rain fell throughout the afternoon, and the ground was !•, quagmire. Although the Southerners were beaten by three gnats to 2, they had a,' great deal the best of the game, 'and in every department were supeiior lo the Wellington men. Martin secured the, three goals for Wellington, and D. Mt-Millan and S. Brown scored for Otago. Brown, as win<s. forward, played the best game on the ground. Otago had Wellington sorely pressed during tbe greater part of the second spell, but could not make the seines equal.
