Messrs Stevens and Gorton's Report.
Bulls, Odober 14, Messrs Gorton and Son report: — We held a more spirited etock sale at Feilding yesterday. Good entries came forward of cattle and sheep. We sold all sheep excepting one pen of prime fat shorn ewes, which did not reach the vendor's reserve of 10s. We sold nearly nil the cattle. The reserves on some steers being higher than ruling rates we had to turn them out unsold. Our quotations are:— Cattle.— Fat cows, £5 ss; springing heifers, £3 18s ; cows in call, £i ss ; cows nnd calves, £4 to £4 7s ; empty cows, £3 10s; milkers, £5 ; 2i year heifers, i' 3 10s; weaners, 20s to 28s f weaners to 18-month £2 4s. Sheep.— Forward wethers, 13/4; store wethers, 12/-; store wethers ana ewes, 10/9 ; hoggets, several pens, various prices, from 8/7 to 11/6 ; ewes with lambs, 11/-. Mr. Sims Beeves, who, in Way, 1891, bade a " thankful, a final, though not a sad, farewell " to English audiences, has accepted £1,000 for twelve appearances it the Cnnvent Garden promenoile concerts this year. Mr. Iteeves was probably born at Woolwich, as per register, in 1818. He gives the year as 1821, and Grove's " Dictionary " dates his birth as 1822,
