The concex'fc to - night promises to be one of the best which has taken place during the season. The high-class musical- selections from Handel's Oratorio Judas Maecabaens will comprise the first part. After the opening overture by the Band, we have the chorus : " Mourn ye afflicted Children," followed by a soprano and { tenor; duet, " .From this Dread Scene." Among the other solos we find, " Pious Orgies," " 'Tis Liberty," " How vain is Man/ "Ah.! wretched Israel." In the \vny of choruses there will be : "0 leather whose Almighty power," "We come iv bright "array," " Disdainful of Danger," " We hear, we hear," " We never will bow down," " Sec the Conquering Hero comes," and " Hallelujah! Amen.'.' There are other duets, airs, and recitations, making up altogether one of the choicest musical. programmes which the society has ever been privileged to present, .The second part commences with an . overture from Boieldieu's opera, " Caliph of Bagdad," after which there is a pretty duet, "The . Messenger Bird," the words by Mrs Hemans. A solo," Alpine Storm;" a glee, " Daughter of Error." An instrumental duet trom the opera,- "II Trovatore," leads on to the sweet tenor solo, " Madoline," which should be one of the gems of the evening. A soprano solo, "The Lover and the Bird/ the Orpheus glee, " Crabbed Age and Youth," with the National Anthem bringing the programme to a close. We look forward to a genuine musical treat, which will, be appreciated and enjoyed by all. The Harmonic Society have been diligently practising, and tonight will add one more to their list of successful appearances.
