Sir Hercules Robinson has received his commission for New Zealand, and leaves at the end of February. Karaitaina, the member for the East Coast, still continues ill, and very little hope is entertained of his ultimate recovery. Mr. Taiaroa, M.H.R., is at present on a a visit to the Empire City. It }s said Mr. Taiaroa is not yet at all satisfied as to the treatment he has received at the hands of the G-overnment. in regard to'the claims of the Maories of the South Island. Even the offer of a seat in the Upper House has had no effect on him.—New Zealand Times. '
