LOCAL BODY ELECTION
NOMINATIONS RECEIVED BOROUGH ROLL. VOTERS NUMBER 7031. The total number of voters on the Masterton borough roll is 7031, made up as follows: —Ratepayers and State house tenants, 3583; residential, 3448. The following additional candidate has been nominated for the Masterton Borough Council: —Herbert Edward Gardner, nominated by Messrs John Betty and Herbert Nuttall. Mr Gardner states that he is standing as an independent. The following nominations have been received so far for Masterton County seats;— Te Whiti Riding: Robert Edward Gordon Lee, nominated by Mrs A. M. Bunny, Messrs D. P. Donald, C. Oliver and R. E. Chamberlain. Uriti Riding: George Moore, nominated by Messrs Hugh Morrison and F. B. Vallance. Opaki Riding: Percy Read Welch, nominated by Messrs W. H. Harcombe and G. FI. Perry. Wairarapa Hospital Board (combined district of Masterton and Castlepoint Counties): Henry Heathcote Mawley, nominated by Messrs R. E. Gordon Lee and J. Donald; Percy Read Welch, nominated by Messrs W. H. Harcombe and G. H. Perry. Wairarapa Power Board (combined district of Masterton and Castlepoint counties): John William Colquhoun, nominated by Messrs H. H. Mawley and P. R. Welch. FEATHERSTON COUNTY The following nominations have been received to date for the Featherston County seats: — I Greytown Riding, L. J. Thompson. Featherston Riding, Q. Donald. Western Lake Riding, R. W.’Matthews and F. E. Jansen. Kahautara Riding. J. C Bidwill. Otaraia Riding, R. Smith. Turanganui Riding, G. J. Gillies. Awhca Riding, J. A. McLeod. Pahaoa Riding. W. S. Cameron. Martinborough Riding. A. B. Martin. All are retiring members except Mr Jansen. Wairarapa Hospital Board, W. B. Martin, A. Clark and J. A. McLeod. Wairarapa Power Board, A. Campbell Pearce. Wairarapa Catchment Board, W. B, Martin and R. A. Donald.
