S.M. COURT

SITTING AT CARTERTON CIVIL AND POLICE CASES (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly sitting of the Carterton S.M. Court was held yesterday being presided over by Mr H. P. Lawry. Shaw’s Pharmacy, Limited, proceeded against J. M. Archer on a judgment summons for the recovery of a debt of £6 8s Id. Defendant was ordered to pay forthwith in default 6 days’ imprisonment.

The police proceeded against T. E. Teal, G. T. Smith and H. G. Newberry on charges that on April 10 at Carterton they were found on licensed premises after hours. Accused were each fined £1 with costs 10s. Similar charges against L. J. Upritchard and I. S. Moody were dismissed. A. J. M. Oates and G. S. Cooper were charged that on March 25 at the Gladstone Hall they had liquor in their possession and were each fined £3 with 10s costs.

A charge against John Wilford Fyfe of the theft of a wireless set was dismissed.
