ALLEGED BREACH OF AWARD DECISION RESERVED ON LEGAL POINT The Department of Labour (Mr G. F. Grieve, Wellington) proceeded against Thomas Borthwick and Sons (A’Asia), Ltd. (Mr MacFarlane Laing) in the Masterton Magistrate’s Court today in a claim for alleged breaches of the New Zealand Plumbers and Gasfitters’ Award. The Magistrate, Mi’ H. P. Lawry, submitted that the inspector had followed the wrong procedure in bringing the case and he quoted authorities in support of his contention. Mr Lawry reserved his decision on a point of law raised. Judgment for plaintiff by default Iwas given in the following undefended jcivil claim: Bullick, Blackmore, Ltd. v A. Flutey, claim £5 12s, costs £1 12s 6d. In a judgment summons case E. C. O. Boyd was ordered to pay E. Nielson £144 5s Hd in default 3 months and 5 days’ imprisonment, warrant to be suspended so long as defendant paid £lO per month.
