OCCUPIED IN GOOD TIME BY AMERICANS SIGNS SEEN OF JAPANESE VISIT (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) NEW YORK, April 25. The secret occupation and fortification of Shemya Island, an important military bastion in the Aleutians, ten months ago, has been announced by the Alaskan Command. The troops encountered no resistance, but reconnaissance proved that the Japanese had been there and had surveyed the island, probably with a view to the construction of military installations.
