FEATHERSTON
CHRISTMAS CAROLS LARGE GATHERING AT TOWN HALL ("Times-Age” Special.) The Town Hall was packed last night when a Christmas carol service was held. The Bishop of Wellington was the speaker. The chair was taken by the Rev J. R. Higgs and the Rev H. W. Troughton assisted at the service. The combined choirs, under the direction of Mr F. Clarke, gave a very fine rendering of the many hymns and carols. Miss Mutter was the accompanist. The Bishop, in his address, stated that there could be no new world after the war without new people. The task of making new people was the work of the church.
Patriotic Dance
The Junior Patriotic Committee held a dance on Saturday night. Mrs Ashton supplied the music and Mr 1e Maire played an extra. Mr Ashton was M.C. Mr J. Saba won a competition for the Christmas cake. Miss Jean Tutbury was responsible for the decorations.
Plunket Society
Mrs Tutbury was the winner of the toy tip truck which was made and donated by Mr Renton. The truck was filled with vegetables and a few oranges and was complete with a driver. It was given to the Plunket Society as a mark of gratitude. Mrs Tutbury has sold the truck and is handing the proceeds to the fund which will finally benefit by £4 10s 3d. The society deeply appreciates the fine gesture of Mr and Mrs Renton and Mrs Tutbury.
COSY THEATRE “LADY FOR A NIGHT.” On Wednesday night there will be shown the brilliant drama, “Lady for a Night,” starring John Wayne. Joan Blundell, Ray Middleton and the Hall Johnson choir.
