AIR FORCE BAND
FURTHERANCE OF RECRUITING CAMPAIGN CEREMONIAL MARCHING DISPLAYS. PERFORMANCES IN MASTERTON AND CARTERTON. The Band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force was due to arrive in Masterton, this afternoon on an official visit to the Wairarapa in furtherance of a recruiting campaign for the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, the Air Training Corps and for men for general duties in the Air Force. On arrival at the station it was arranged that the band should march to Queen Street, where on a platform erected in front of the shop lately occupied by Messrs. W. E. Cody, Ltd., near the Post Office, Wing Commander Ayling is to take the salute. In the absence of the Mayor, Mr. T. Jordan, who is out of town, the actingMayor, Councillor W. White, will extend a welcome to the band and introduce Flight-Lieutenant Stedman. Flight-Lieutenant Stedman will speak relative to the recruiting appeal associated with the band’s visit. Arrangements have been made for, members of the Air Force to march with the band from the station to Queen Street. Tomorrow, the band will give a ceremonial display at the Carterton Showgrounds, commencing at 2.30 p.m., and in the evening the dance section of the band will play the music for a dance to be held in the State Theatre. On Sunday, the band will make two public Appearances in Masterton, the first at the Park, at 2.30 p.m., when a ceremonial display will be given, and the second at the Regent Theatre in the evening, when a concert will be presented, including the notable “Warsaw Concerto.”
Members of the Wairarapa College unit of the Air Training Corps are asked to parade at the Municipal Building on Sunday next, at 1.50 p.m.. to take part in the parade with the band of the R.N.Z.A.F.
