DAIRY INDUSTRY
MEETING AT DALEFIELD ' FACTORY WAGE INCREASE SOUGHT. CONCLUSION NOT YET REACHED. At a meeting of the directors and employees of .the Dalefield Dairy Company last night, the men asked the directors to consider paying them a minimum wage of £5 10s per week, as workers in an essential industry, and to issue to them two pairs of overalls each season. It is understood that the directors will meet today and give the proposals further consideration and convey the outcome to their employees tonight. It was stated at the meeting last night that there was no suggestion of the men striking, as they wished their proposals to be dealt with on constitutional lines. The manager of the Dalefield Company, Mr W. Linton, on being approached, declined to say anything about the meeting. He said the matter was solely between the directors and their employees.
