ANTICIPATED IN INDIA MR GANDHI SUGGESTS TREATY. FOR DEFENCE OF CHINA. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, June 18. Messages from New Delhi point to probable new political developments in India. It is expected that the Viceroy’s Executive Council will be reconstructed to ensure that it will be more representative of the diverse Indian peoples. The main aim of the reconstruction will be to strengthen the war effort of the Central Government. It is believed in New Delhi that there is a possibility of Indians entering the War Cabinet in London. In an interview today, Mr Gandhi referred to his recent statement in which he said that he agreed to the presence of foreign troops in India provided that they were there as allies of a free country under a treaty with India. He said that he had in mind a treaty between the United Nations and India for the defence of China against Japanese aggression, and added. “There can be no limit to what a friendly and independent India could do.” In Zurich, Switzerland, today, the Aga Khan denied German reports that he had been visiting Germany.
