EKETAHUNA

W.D.F.U. BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Eketahuna branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held its annual meeting on April 16. A committee meeting was held prior to the general meeting. Mrs Hancock presided over a good attendance of members. The returned soldiers will be entertained at afternoon tea after the service on Anzac Day, by the members of the local branch.

Mrs Hancock gave a full and comprehensive report on the year’s work and the balance sheet was read and adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: — President, Mrs M. McAnulty; secretary, Mrs Harvey Simpson; treasurer, Mrs J. McAnulty.

Soldiers’ Comforts Committee. The Ladies’ Soldiers’ Comforts Committee held their flag 500 in the Anglican Hall on Saturday evening. There was a very large attendance and an enjoyable evening was spent. The supper was served by the ladies’ committee. Miss Gallagher conducted the games. Miss M. Anderson (president) presented the prizes to the following winners: Ladies, Mrs W. Evans and Miss Gal-: lagher; men, Messrs D. Scott and A. Stewart; lucky seats, Messrs D. Hart, Castledyne and D. Olivant and Mrs D. Farrow. Personal. Mrs T. M. Page, Lower' Hutt, is on a visit to Mr and Mrs P. S. Page, Stanley Street. Mr and Mrs C. T. Richardson, Lansdowne, Masterton, are on a visit to Parkville, Eketahuna. Mrs Chapman, Hokitika, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs W. Duffill, Alfredton Road. The many friends of Mrs Coster, Stanley Street, will regret to hear she is seriously ill. Mr A. T. Anderson, Wellington, Assistant Engineer N.Z.R., is on a visit to Eketahuna and is a guest at Liverpool House.
