TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
MEETING IN MASTERTON.
BED-MAKING DEMONSTRATION
Mrs E. J. Burke presided at a general meeting of the members of the Masterton Townswomen’s Guild.
Mrs W. H. Judd reported that 3000 Victory badges had been made. Guild members were advised to donate money to the Patriotic Committee, instead, of buying articles for the soldiers’ Christmas parcels. Mesdames Lyttle and Copp, representatives on the Red Cross Society, thanked the members for their donations and assistance towards the Rod Cross Society’s shop day.
Mrs J. G. Dagg stated that the Dental Clinic would be open to the public for another fortnight to enable parents to see the work which was being carried out in the interests of the children. Mrs E. J. Burke won the competition, a pair of knitted mittens. Mrs E. H. Morton gave an interesting travel talk. Mrs Speight played a pianoforte solo, which was much appreciated. Afternoon tea was served, after- which Mrs H. W. Thompson, of the St. John Ambulance, assisted by Mrs J. O. Thomson, and Miss Kathleen Wiltshire, as the patient, gave an instructive demonstration of bed-making. The necessity of placing hot water bottles between the blankets, and not the sheets, was stressed. Mesdames Thompson and Thomson were accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and presented with a shoulder spray. The Guild has decided to hold a social gathering on August 20, at 8 p.m., in the Savage Club's rooms.
