SALE AT FEILDING SHEEP PRICES ERRATIC. BEEF VALUES FIRMER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, June 20. Sheep prices were erratic at the Feilding sale today, mutton being backward by about Is, while store sheep met with considerable passings. Fat sheep: Muiton was in heavy supply and. while first-grade lines sold at firm prices, light and inferior-fin-ished sorts dropped in value. Extra prime wethers made 24s Id to 25s Id. prime 22s Id to 23s 7d, unfinished 19s lOd to 21s lOd; extra prime ewes, 12s Id to 13s 4d, prime 10s Id to Ils lOd, others 7s to 9s lOd; prime maiden Southdown ewes, 24s 4d; extra prime lambs 23s 7d to 24s 7d, prime 21s 3d to 22s Bd, light 16s 4d to 19s lOd. Store sheep: Good quality lambs were in demand, but the market generally was weak. A good proportion | of the yarding was passed in. Best' b.f. lambs made 14s 8d to 16s, others 13s to 14s Gd; wether lambs, 15s 7d to 16s Id: m.s. lines, good 16s 4d to 16s 6d, others 10s 9d to 14s lOd; good twotooth ewes 30s 9d, smaller 28s 6d; four and five-year ewes, 18s 9d; aged ewes, best 12s 3d to 13s, inferior 7s; forward wethers, 19s.

Store cattle: Little change was shown in st6ro cattle prices, a fair entry of station lines selling satisfac--1 torily. Hereford cows made £4 2s; | A.A. cows, best £3 17s Gd to £4 16s, poor £3 5s to £3 8s; yearling A.A. steers, £4 4s to £5 12s 6d; A.A. heifers, £4 Ils to £4 16s: yearling Jersey | heifers, good £4 to £4 2s 6d, small ■ £1 7s 6d to £3 7s 6d. Dairy cattle: Good quality springing cows found a strong market at improved prices. Best cows, near profit made £l4 to £l7 10s, others £9 10s to £ll 15s; springing heifers, £6 5s to £lO. Fat cattle: Beef was firmer, with a steady inquiry for well-finished lines. Light prime ox made £ll 2s 6d, others £7 2s 6d to £8 7s Gd; prime cows and heifers, £6 17s 6d to £7 17s Gd, lighter £5 17s Gd to £6 15s; ex-dairy cows heavy £5 10s to £G 10s; others £3 15s to £5. Pigs: Satisfactory prices were paid for a light entry of pigs. Weaners made 9s to 16s Gd; slips, 17s 6d to 20spor^ers ’ 30 s 6d; sows, £3 10s to Poultry prices are as follows: Hens 2s to 3s 6d; cockerels. Is Gd to 4s 9dducks, 2s Gd to 4s.

CARTERTON SALE TOTAL CLEARANCE EFFECTED. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—Small yardings of sheep cattle and pigs were forward at the Carterton weekly sale yesterday. Several pens of young breeding ewes offered on account of Mr B. E. Clarke, Carrington, were keenly sought. A total clearance was effected under the hammer. The following prices were realised:—

Sheep: Two-tooth ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, to 29s lOd; four and six-tooth ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, to 28s 6<l; fouryear ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, to 295; m.a. ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, to 23s 9d; fail-ing-mouthed ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, to 9s 7d; shorn ewe hoggets, to 18s 7d; shorn wether hoggets, to 18s sd; cull hoggets. 7s 6d to 9s; prime heavy wethers, to 265; fat hoggets, 21s to 22s 2d; fat ewes, to Ils 3d; b.f. hoggets, to 14s. Cattle: Ayrshire heifers on drop, to £9 10s; Jersey heifers, r.w. bull, to £6; fat. cows, £5 2s 6d to £6 4s; forward cows, £3 10s to £4 7s; store cows, £2 10s to £2 18s; cows and calves. £6 to £7 7s 6d. Pigs: Heavy porkers, to £2 10s; porkers, 35s to £2 Is; light. 29s to 335: store pigs, 19s to 235; slips, 15s to 18s 6d; weaners, good, 12s to 15s; medium, 9s to Ils 6d; small, 7s to 8s Gd.

HOGGETS IN DEMAND. The Auctioneers’ Association report on the Pahiatua Sale as follow:—A small yarding of sheep were offered to the public, hoggets selling particularly well. Quotations: —Wether hoggets 17s Id to 17s, small 12s Gd to 12s to 11s 6d; b.f. hoggets 13s. 12s Gd to Us; culls 7s to 6s; weaner pigs, 12s.
